Can you make boiled peanuts with roasted shelled peanuts?

My boyfriends from Georgia and he really misses boiled peanuts since he hasn’t been able to find them anywhere in California. So I want to make him some for his birthday tomorrow, but I could only find roasted. I’ll attempt it, but I want to know if it’s possible to have them taste the same or close to the same, or if it’d even work at all…

No. The peanuts used for boiled peanuts must be raw. You can buy raw peanuts at many of the bigger grocery stores, or at specialty stores. You could probably find them online, as well.

Hope I’ve helped.

Added later: You can boil the roasted peanuts you have, but I would NOT serve them to your boyfriend. They will be ruined and inedible. Sorry. Maybe you could find some raw ones and make them for another special occasion, and do something else for his birthday.

No, sorry but it just isn’t the same as boiling fresh peanuts!
.

No, not roasted, buy the dry raw peanuts and soak them in cold water in the fridge for about 3 days, drain, boil for about 2 hrs add salt and let simmer for another 30 minutes and you will have boiled peanuts

No you can’t. BUT if you have a chance to go back to the store, look for a can of Green’s boiled Peanuts in the nut section. Take those and boil them on the stove (add a little more salt) and that’s about as close as you can get without making a whole bunch in a big pot. REAL boiled peanuts cook for a really long time.
