Can you be allergic to peanuts but not with other nuts?

My little sister has an allergy with peanuts. But it’s not as bad as some. She is fine when she eats food that has labels that say ‘may contain traces of nuts’ but can’t, of course, eat PEANUTS.

So my question is, can you just be allergic to peanuts but be okay to eat hazelnuts, almonds, macadamias and pistachios? I think she ate a hazelnut praline chocolate and was fine, but that was ages ago.

Thanks in advance.

Oh definitely. My wife is allergic to peanut butter, peanuts, all of the sort but loves pistachios, cashews, and almonds.

I am illergic to seafood. I am more tolerant to fish than i am to crab or lobster. So i think the same could be possible for Different kinds of nuts. The Best way to find out in your case is to buy them all and test them out while in the care of a hospital.

yes you can. I’m allergic to peanuts to, but i can suck my own nuts just fine

the fact that she ate something that MAY contain traces of nuts isnt good.

that just means it could possibly one day have a piece of nut in it, probably because they make something with nuts in the same factory. it only takes once to kill her hehe

yes, it is possible to only be allergic to peanuts.
i actually knew someone who was allergic to the skin of almonds, but not the nut itself

Yes, it’s possible. But you should always be careful because peanuts and the other nuts might be handled together. My sister in law can eat only peanuts and is allergic to all others but she can eat hazelnut nutella. It’s just the way the body works sometimes. She should always becareful though.

Peanuts are not nuts. They are legumes and are closely related to peas and grean beans.

If she had signifigant tree allergies she would more likely be sensistive to actual nuts (which come from trees).

Yes but be careful because other nuts may be made in the same factories as peanuts which make the dangerous. Consult your doctor with this question.

I found an interesting article on the included website that may have answers to your questions. There was a suggestion about having an injectable epinephrine kit for emergencies that I thought was worth passing on to you.
