Can I substitute margarine for butter in a lemon bars recipe? Will they still turn out ok?
I just found a great easy recipe for lemon bars at allrecipes and the recipe calls for butter but all I have is margarine. Do you think it would be ok to substitute the margarine for the butter in this recipe?

NO, GO OUT AND BUY BUTTER! REAL BUTTER!
No, I tried it. It will turn out having an odd taste. Butter gives them a certain taste that I can’t defy.
As long as it doesn’t call for unsalted butter it should be ok. Until recently I always cooked with margarine and never had a problem with taste. I actually like margarine better in a lot of things. I think people who are used to butter might notice a difference but if you are used to margarine you probably won’t.
Margarine is POISON! Use butter!
what are you guys talking about…I laways use margarine and nothing ever turns out bad…real butter has no flavor…margarine is fine, geez…I cook all the time…
I also have had no problem using margerine in everything.I never buy butter.
I rarely buy butter (only when I bake cookies which only happens at christmas time) other than that I use margarine in everything, my brother in law who claims that margarine makes him ill and he can taste it in anything never notices. so go ahead and use the margarine, hey it’s actually better for you then real butter!
