Can I substitute corn syrup for cornstarch?

The recipe that I am making (Chicken Marsala) calls for 2 tsp of cornstach, can I use corn syrup? Would I use 2 tsp? Would it be better to just not add either?

no you can not. corn syrup is to make things sweet. Corn startch is a thickener.

NO,,,corn syrup is NOWHERE near cornstarch in the ingredient list..If you must use good ole flour in place of the cornstarch.

corn syrup is used to SWEETEN dishes. Corn starch is used to THICKEN sauces.

No, corn starch is a thickening agent, corn syrup is just that, syrup. Use arrow root or just plain flour….

No, you cannot substitute corn syrup for corn starch. Depending on what the recipe is you may be able to substitute arrowroot powder or flour if the cornstarch is being used as a thickener.

no it is not.yes.yes

no, please don’t use corn syrup.

No because those are two different things.

no way. Not even close.

Corn syrup is a sweetener and corn starch is a thickening agent. If you knew what you were doing, you could get away with using flour but you would have to do it just right. Go buy the 2 dollar box of corn starch.

Don’t even think about it, go get some cooking lessons first!

Absolutely not- it would be like substituting honey for flour. If you don’t have cornstarch try substituting flour.

absolutely not. Corn syrup is a type of sweetner. Cornstarch is a thickening agent. If you don’t have cornstarch, use flour instead. in the same proportion as the cornstarch. you should be OK.
