Can I start to introduce cows milk to my 11 month old so he will get used to it?

If so, what kind? I know it is supposed to be whole milk, but is that Vitamin D? I don’t think I have ever seen “Whole Milk”.

Thanks!

Sorry for the stupid questions, my daughter is lactose intolerant so we went straight from soy formula to soy milk.

Yes, that’s the carton that says “Vitamin D Milk.” Around here, the label is red but maybe not everywhere. I would go ahead and wait the one more month and just keep him on formula or breast milk until 12 months. Not a stupid question.

Whole milk is Homoginzied milk, or the 3-4% kind. Babies need the extra fat until they are around 2.
Most milk has Vit.D added, they don’t all put it right on the front though.
You can start giving it to him now, it won’t hurt him any. Just start slow and watch for any adverse effects in case he’s got a bit of an intolerance as well.

Sometimes its just called Vitamin D but its still whole milk. But I was told to mix the formula and milk together.

Also my daughter was lactose intolerant and was on soy formula but the doc said she would be fine on the reg whole milk and she was and never had a problem with it.

“Whole” milk is the high fat milk, otherwise known as homogenized milk. It’s not advertized as whole milk. It’s the one that has more fat than 2%.

Whole milk is the one that doesnt say 1%, 2% or skim. It usually has a red cap and check the label to make sure it has vitamin D(most milk does have vitamin D in it now). You can try small amounts in a sippy cup now and see how he does with it. Good luck!

Yes, Whole Milk is Vit D. My son had to go on Lactose free formula and when it came time to switch he couldn’t tolerate the whole milk so we had to go to the Lactaid. When first introducing whole milk my doctor said to make a bottle an ounce or so less than normal and substitute the whole milk and slowly increase the milk and decrease the formula. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Yes, you can start trying 1st.
