Can I make a microwavable neck wrap using uncooked rice?

I have heard of buckwheat or flax seed being used. Can rice also be used?

rice works great, and can also be stored in the freezer and used as a cold pack.

I will say one thing for sure, they are making a bundle selling those at 27.00 bucks each. I paid 12.00 for them at our local Craft Fair. The ones I got lay farther down on the back and just tubular on the front parts. Following the recommended time given with mine, was too long and I had burn marks on my neck and back. So test them out before giving a 2 min time in the nuker. Everybody’s nuker is different in wattage and some get very hot very fast.
Other herbs good for the neck wraps is Lavender buds, and they are relaxing and smell great. The rice is a good filler with other herbs, and the flax or buckwheat hulls.

I have made quite a few neck wraps with rice for my family and friends and they all loved them. Nice thing about making them yourself is that you can make them any size you want. I’ve made some larger ones to put on the back. Only thing you should do on larger wraps like this is to sew channels, so the rice doesn’t all slip to one side. Depending on the wattage of your microwave, you might want to start out heating it for one minute and increase in small increments if it’s not hot enough.
Have fun sewing up the wraps!

Yes. Rice only cooks if there is water with it.
.

Yes. After I had knee surgery I made several. Make a Little pillow case Fill 3/4 full with rice ( not instant) and sew up the end. Put it in the microwave 2 Min’s,and enjoy stays hot a very long time.
