Can anyone give me some tips on preparing brown rice in a rice cooker?
Do not suggest other ways to prepare. I specifically want to know how to best prepare it in a rice cooker. I just got a rice cooker yesterday, and I tried making some brown rice in it and it came out too crunchy. Does anyone have some cooking tips on how to make it softer. I’ve heard that soaking it overnight helps.
Brown rice not Wild Rice. I basically want tips on making it come out softer.

Simply add almost double amount of water per cup of rice.
Example. 2 cups rice to 4 cups water.

p.s. just a suggestion; I mix my white with brown. In that case 2 cups of white & brown rice mix to 3 cups water.
I find brown rice to be harder than white rice. So I usually soak the brown rice in the rice cooker for about 1/2 hour to 1 hour before cooking. I also add about 1/2 cup of water for each cup of rice.
For example, when cooking white rice, I use 3 cups of rice and 4 cups of water. With brown rice, I use 3 cups of rice and 5 1/2 cups of water.
Are you by chance referring to “Wild Rice”?
I use 2.5 times more water than rice. So for every cup of rice add 2.5 cups of water. This works fine for me.
(For white rice I usually just use 2 times water.)
