Can a slim girl trying to gain weight include flax seed in her diet?
I am of slim build, 5 ft 7 inches tall and weigh 107 pounds. I eat pretty normal but is unable to gain weight due to an extremely high metabolic rate. I am currently on a number of supplements including a protein shake. I am interested in taking flax seed oil because of its benefits but realise it promotes weight loss. Would it greatly affect me if I take it?

i think it may give you the runs if you take to much. i wanted to gain weight for a boyfriend, i ate bacon, bacon and more bacon, fatty animal proteins will do it, then put more strength training into your work out, like gymnasts do, put on some bulk that way. good luck, it is hard to do if you are really thin
Flax seed will not cause you to gain or lose weight. Flax seed is usually used by people trying to prevent or treat diseases, like heart disease. Generally speaking people who have heart disease are also trying to lose weight and that might be where the confusion is. Most nutrition experts recommend ground instead of whole flaxseed because your body is better able to digest it. Although the Institute of Medicine has not set a recommended daily intake for omega-3 fatty acids, it has established adequate intake amounts of between 1.1 and 1.6 grams a day for adults.
It’s the dietary fibers in flax seed that is purported to aid in weight gain. Other than that, it’s a healthy supplement because of its Omega 3 and lignan nutrients that can bring about a lot of therapeutic benefits to the body. So whether you are slim or overweight, getting a load (of at most 3 tablespoons) of milled flax seed is necessary considering how deficient our diets are today, in terms of Omega 3. It might just help you gain weight considering the fact that Omega 3 nutrients can help balance hormones and correct metabolic conditions that may as well have an impact on a person’s body weight.
