Best way to store uncooked rice long term ?

I buy rice in the larger size bags. Which is the best place to store uncooked rice so it stays fresh longer and does not attract ‘bugs’ ? I once stored some uncooked rice in the regular cupboard and some flying type bugs were seen in the rice container. Yuch !

Any suggestions for best storage . . . Fridge, freezer, cupboard . . . ? If uncooked rice is put in the fridge or freezer does that effect the quality of the rice ? Any difference for storing uncooked white or brown rice?
Thanks for replies. . . In the past I have stored it in an air tight container in the cupboard…I later saw bugs moving around in that same airtight jar…When I opened the jar some of them flew out…Yuch ! I like the suggestion here to maybe buy higher quality rice that has not already been packaged for a long time.

I seal bulk rice in a glass jar with a tight fighting screw-top lid.

I just put the whole bag in my freezer and I take it out to make the rice. The quality is the same.

buy an airtight storage canister. big mason jars or other containers with air tight tops work perfectly. i would think that the moisture in the air in the fridge would not be good for it…

My husband is part Japanese so we eat a lot of rice. I think the quality of the rice does matter. Also, where you buy it. Make sure it’s not coming from a grocery where it has already been sitting on a shelf for a year. We are fond of Botan. It comes in a white sack with a red rose as the logo. We keep our rice in a glass commercial size candy container and have never had a bug problem. But we go thru 1/2 lb per week. The fridge or freezer will add moisture which can be deadly to rice.

store it like how the supermarkets store them.
In a cool place should be fine – Drawers
Where u store your can food, instant noodles, can be used to store rice too

I keep mine in the freezer also.
