The term “Vegetable” is not a botanical term. It is a culinary term. Botanists do not classify anything as a vegetable because the word “vegetable”, is not part of a botanist’s nomenclature. They do classify some stuff as fruit, however.

A lot of the stuff you mentioned are classified as fruits (botanically speaking). However, a chef will NOT consider these as fruits (for obvious reasons). So, it depends on who you ask. A tomato, for example, is both a fruit and a vegetable; depending on if you’re talking to a botanist or a chef.

Actually ALL are considered fruits. The term vegetable is basically to differentiate savory form sweet.
