Are rice and almond milks better choices than soy milk?
I previously posted a question about the advantages of soy milk, and I learned that there are all sorts of issues (negative!) surrounding soy consumption. Are rice milk and almond milk better for you? And do they taste just as good?

maybe i could be u never know it matters on the kind of rice!:)
My boyfriend works for an organic food company and he is always talking about how people believe that soy milk is so health, when in reality it isn’t as healthy as most people believe it to be. I myself drink both rice and almond milk. I think they are both tasty and pretty good for you!
I have a brother who is fatally allergic to milk and all dairy proteins, so for the longest time my parents gave him soy milk instead of regular milk. But as my brother was growing up, he has exhibited somewhat feminine behaviors, and my Dad read somewhere that soy milk somehow induces higher levels of estrogen, and my Dad is extremely homophobic and thought soy milk was making my brother gay so he switched him to rice milk. I think it’s a crock of crap, personally.
I have a lactose intolerance, and I drink Light Vanilla Soy Milk and I don’t think it’s making me more effeminate, and I haven’t read one reason why rice or any other milk would be better.
It seems like they are all the same in my opinion.
Well soya can only be a problem if you are young and wish to conceive in the future. But if you are in your 30′s or older and not intending to have children in the future. Then there is no problem.
Otherwise, I would say go with rice or almond milk.
EDIT: would just like to point out to Glee that Soya only actually makes up 2% of the Chinese diet, that is fine. It is only when people start consuming all of the soya products at once and it makes up more than 5% of their diet when it becomes a problem.
Part of that probably depends on what nutritional value you are attempting to get from the “milk”. I switched from cows milk to soy due to the calorie content (I am not vegetarian or vegan) and that it lasts longer once opened (I was not drinking the cows milk fast enough and it would go bad). I recently switched from soy milk to almond milk because I can get Almond Breeze at 60 cals/cup and I enjoy the flavor.
I haven’t tried the rice milk but would give it a go at some point. I just tend to ignore the shelf-stable products most fo the time and that’s the only place I’ve seen rice milk where I shop. Almond Breeze has recently been added to the refrigerated section.
Soy is not bad for you. But relying on any food too much is not the best option for your health. Plus, it gets boring. I keep my fridge stocked with hemp, almond, rice and soy milks because they provide variety, work better in different recipes and offer different health benefits.
EDIT: Isn’t China with its huge population big on eating soy? How can soy then be said to harm reproductive health?
They are good if you are against eating soy. But I’ve found soy varieties to be fortified while rice and almond milks are not.
