Anyone take Fenugreek to help with lactation?
If so…what is the difference between the Seed and the Extract….and what were your results with either one of them.
I also take Mother’s Milk tea
My daughter is a preemie as well. I ask because the guy at the Vitamin Shoppe said that the extract should be stronger than the seed (both are in capsules) BUT I can’t find anything on the La Leche League’s site that compares the two.

I did take it, with my 2nd child, because he was a premmie & my supply started to go down because he couldn’t nurse strongly enough. It was in capsule form, and I remember i had to take a LOT of them. (I think it was 3 capsules each in the morning & evening.) I really don’t remember if they were seed or extract, but if it helps any, they had a tan powdery look (clear capsules so I could see it) and I remember a funny after taste.
Anyway, it DID help. My little guy just couldn’t nurse well enough until he was a couple of months old, but between pumping, him trying, and the Fenugreek, we made it & he ended up nursing past his 2nd year!
Sorry I couldn’t be more specific, but I hope this helps!
Tinctures and extracts are supposed to be more effective because your body doesn’t have to break them down.
