Anyone have simple recipes with simple ingredients?

ok. So I’m a newlywed. I’m now at the point in time where I’m able to have dinner cooked for my husband when he gets off of work. So I need some ideas. Any links or recipes to some tasty meals, that are not that hard to make, with only a few ingredients. I’m also trying to save on the grocery bill, so any canned foods that I can substitute for fresh ones are even better. Thanks so much.

google simply recipes – its where i started to keep impressing my boyfriend once id ran out of family hand downs – your gran or mother is an untapped goldmine – mothers good but gran is extraordinary !! traditional meals are always great to welcome someone home with – if its a nice day why not make pie like dessert pie – with your own base – its impressive and easy !

but i do recommend simply recipes !

To keep it simple think like this:
1 meat
1 starch
1 vegie
Buy only meat on sale & grill or fry it.Chicken, pork chps, hambuger.
Buy starch on sale: rice, noodles, potatoes-Boil them
Buy vegies (canned) on sale: green beans, corn, collard, stewed tomatoes- heat & serve.

Here’s a bunch of Budget recipes:

1001recipe.com or kraftcanada.com you can type in what ingredients you have in your cupboard or fridge or freezer and it will show you some recipes you can make with those items and maybe a couple more.

Take a couple boneless-skinless chicken breasts, put them in a baking dish and pour a can of cream of potato soup over it, cover the pan with foil, bake at 350 for one hour. Serve with a veggie and rolls. Yum! A favorite for us.

Another good one: Tator Tot Casserole

Brown some hamburger, I use ground turkey.
In a casserole dish, combine one can of cream of mushroom, one can of milk, french style cut green beans and add the cooked meat.
Top with shredded cheese, optional
Layer top with tator tots
Bake at 350 for 1 hour

try some of the recipes at the website below they are wonderful. I love this sight i get all my recipes from this website.

The Best Apple Cobbler-use guess work depending on the size
about 1C. flour
about 1 C. brown sugar maybe more
little less oatmeal
1 stick butter

slice about 6 apples depending on how big they are…the more is usually better. Put them in a 9×9 pan. Mix the ingrediants above and pour over top. It shouldn’t be too butter and taste sweet. Preheat to 350 and bake for half hour. This is one of my fave deserts because it tastes great but isn’t over the top!

Burritos are always good! All you have to do is thaw the meat, heat the skillet to like, 350. Brown meat and add taco seasoning. You can also make it into tacos!

Stroganoff-Thaw meat, Heat skillet to about 350, brown meat, add about 1tsp. pepper, some onion, cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom. Pour over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.

Mashed Potatoes-cut and peel potatoes. Boil Water. Add garlic powder to water. Add potatoes. When potatoes are soft take off heat and mash. Add a cup sour cream and butter.

Buy a packet of stew mix and the instructions on the back…It may say to roll the meat in flour and oil but you don’t need to. Don’t worry if the veggies aren’t very soft.

Frozen Lasana is great! Frozen Fish sticks ar e also good.Just go to ur store and look at all the stuff they have and see what sounds good to you.
Check the prices on meat a lot! You can find really good deels sometimes!

Meat loaf-instructons are on back of dried onion packets at groceri store…save on onions with that I think…

Tip-keep basic food in house like corn bread….You never know when you need it..just don’t go over board lol!

Simple is good.

Here’s a link to budget cooking

One from the Canned Food Alliance

And cheap cooking

Good luck!

Boneless chicken breasts.

Melt 1/4 stick margarine or butter. Put chicken in pan. Pour margarine over chicken, Flip chicken to cover and roll in margarine, sprinkle with seasoning salt, flip over and sprinkle with seasoning salt again. Bake 350 for 1 hour.

Make yellow rice out of the packet or make your own. I make my own, it is really cheap.
For the Mix:

1 Cup Rice
1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Ground Turmeric
1/4 Teaspoon Ground Cumin
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Sugar

To make the Rice:
2 Cups Water
2 Teaspoons Olive Oil

Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 min

Serve with a vegetable on the side and/or a biscuit.

LASAGNA:
Use a 9×13 pain. Boil 9 noodles. While that is cooking brown 1/2 pound hamburger, season with salt, pepper and seasoning salt. Drain. Add 1 jar spaghetti sauce (not chunky kind). I get the hunts in a can for 85 cents. Heat up quickly on medium and remove.
Drain noodles when done. Lay 3 in bottom of pain next to each other, spread 1/3 of the sauce over the noodles, put some mozarella shredded on top of that, put 3 more noodles, repeat sauce and cheese, put last 3 noodles, sauce and more cheese.. Make sure the top layer you put a good amount of cheese to cover. If you like Ricotta in your lasagna buy that in the inner layers too. Then bake at 350 until cheese melts and gets the start of browning but barely.
Serve with garlic bread bought or easily made: Just spread butter or margarine on bread, sprinkle with garlic powder and sprinkle some mozarella cheese. Bake at 350 until cheese melts (not very long). Use french bread, texas toast but you can use any bread. If you use regular bread cut in strips.

Tostados. Cook 1 pound hamburger meat, season, drain. Add taco seasoning and cook according to package usually 3/4 water to packet and cook until absorbed. Heat a can of refried beans in the microwave. Spread on a tostado shell (6 for a buck in the store). Spread some taco meat on and sprinkle taco cheese. Zap in microwave til cheese melts. The top with shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, guacomole, and sour cream as you desire. Sprinkle w th more cheese. Enjoy. You can serve yellow or spanish rice with this but I dont because it is very filling.

Shepard pie.
Peel and cook 6 medium potatoes. Mash and season as usual, creamy ones not stiff.
Cook 1/2 pound hamburger, season, drain. Add 2 cans tomato soup. Add 1 bag frozen mixed vegetables or 2 cans drained mixed vegetables. Cook on low-medium to heat through. Pour into a 9×13 pan. Spread the mashed potatoes to cover the entire top. Sprinkle shredded cheddar or taco or 3 cheese in light layer on top. Heat at 350 until cheese melts (just melts does not brown).

Chili:
1/2 pound hamburger, cooked, seasoned, drained. Add I jar meat spaghetti sauce (again I use hunts in the can cheapest). Add 1 small jar salsa (mild or hot depending on your taste). Add 1 packet chili seasoning (30 cents). Add 2 cans chili beans (do not drain) Stiir and Cook to heat through. Cook elbow noodles and drain to make 2 cups. Stir in noodles as much as you like the consistency for. Remove from heat Sprinkle shredded cheese on top or lay 4 pieces of sandwich cheese. Cover and cheese will melt on its own.

Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (we also use ground turkey)
1/2-2/3 cup dry breadcrumbs (can also use seasoned crumbs)
1/4 cup milk
1/4-3/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1 small onion, chopped (approx 1/4 c)
1 egg
Directions
1Combine all ingredients and shape into 20-24 meatballs (1 to 1-1/2 inches each).
2To oven bake: Place in ungreased 9×13 pan (you may want to line it with foil for easier clean-up).
3Bake 20-25 min or until light brown and cooked through; turn meatballs halfway through, if desired, to help maintain a round shape.
4To pan fry: Cook in skillet on medium heat, turning as needed, until brown (approx 20 min).
5To microwave: Place in micro-proof 12×7 pan and cover loosely.
6Micro on high for 3 minutes; rearrange meatballs.
7Cover again loosely and micro until brown inside, approx 5-7 min more.
8Let stand covered for 3 minut

Cook your spaghetti noodles, drain. I bake the above meatballs. Just put on a tin foil and spray with pam in a cookie sheet. Just add the meatballs to the sauce and make the garlic bread abov e.
