Anyone have a vegetarian toddler/infant?
can you give a baby pieces of soy hot dogs? I was thinking probably since you can give them tofu. I am thinking lik 9-12 months old. Also what other kinds of foods do you feed baby? So far my baby has had little bites of cheese but just fruits/veggies. I am going to try to feed him some lentils though (9 month old)

Sure, just cut them into pieces lengthwise.
We are *not* vegetarians, but my daughter hates meat. I often offer tofu and other meat substitutes to add protein to her diet.
Besides tofu, beans are a healthy high-protein food. My little one likes garbanzo beans the best – I just peel off the skins. Peanut butter (after one year of age) is also a good one. My daughter eats plenty of yogurt and cheese – both high in protein and calcium.
Good luck!
my son does eat meat on occasion but hasnt had red meat yet. i just feel…weird giving it to him since I was once a vegetarian for many years. soy hot dogs are yummy! just make sure you cut them up really well as to not make them a choking hazard. I make my son fried tofu nuggets all the time and he LOVES them! and tofu has loads of calcium and protein!
They are fine, not the healthiest food, but fine.
Cut them up well and offer them only occasionally. They are generally higher in salts and highly highly processed. So, they are not an optimal food for a baby.
Fruits and vegetables are the perfect food for this age. They do not need anything else besides breastmilk until at least 12 months. Anything you add into babes diet is just for fun and tasting. Don’t worry about the nutritional content, since that all comes from the breastmilk.
Have fun!
Have you tried any grains yet? Like WW pastas with a little olive oil and nutritional yeast?
I don’t have an answer but I have been following this question. I just wanted to say how happy I was to not see any negative comments about this topic.
My daughter’s almost 3 and won’t touch meat in any form. If I grind it up in spaghetti sauce, she’ll pick out the meat bits or refuse it entirely. She eats bread, pasta, a ton of fruit and cheese, not too many veggies. She’ll occasinally eat a couple of beans. I don’t worry about it though because although she is slender, she’s not too skinny. She reaches all her developmental milestones, ususally ahead of time, etc. We offer her what we’re eating every day and don’t make a big deal of it. I figure someday she’ll change her mind and try some. If not, that’s OK too. As long as she’s healthy, I don’t care.
