Allergies to legumes?

I have always been allergic to peanuts. It is pretty severe, but not to the point I need an epipen. Recently I also discovered that I am allergic to lentils, another legume. I can never remember being allergic to lentils before, so how do I know which other legumes I am allergic too as well? Do you think I need to see an allergist? My reactions have gotten worse over time, so do you think I should start carrying around an epipen?

Thanks.

Awww sad :(
I’m on the other side of the spectrum. Nuts bad, peanuts good!
I am also at the same stage as you! yay! I have pretty severe allergies but i’ve never carried an epipen either. I’m all “yes, i am allergic, yes my reaction is more then a sneeze, no i will not die, no you will not have to run me to a hospital but i appreciate the sentiment”.
A year or 2 a go I had a really bad reaction. I hate to say this but I’m not very good at the “ask if it contains nuts” game. (stupid game
anyway, right? right?) This means however i have a couple of reactions a year and i know the pattern pretty well but this time it was…the normal pattern and some! And it was really quick. I was concerned.

I went to a walk-in clinic, thinking, ok, reactions are getting worse. I would like something to help. Not necessarily get rid of, just help. Like like like taking away that chest pain. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME! I asked the Dr. this and our conversation went something like this:
Dr: Epipen.
Me: Hell no.
Dr: epipen
Me: I don’t need it
Dr: epipen
Me: How about just something stronger then Benadryl (as lets face it, doesn’t help with the chest pains)
Dr: epipen
Me: Something in between Benadryl and epipen?
Dr: epipen
Me: hell no
Dr: Just a quick poke, not a lot of pain
Me: Nuh-uh
Dr: All symptoms gone in 30 seconds
Me: …
Dr: *tauntingly* All symptoms gone in 30 seconds
Needless to say, i walked away with a prescription. I did wind up going to an allergist and get tested and fun jazz. Mainly why i went, is like you, I knew i was allergic to nuts (legumes for you) but i was a little hazy on which nuts (legumes) i was allergic to. They were pretty awesome. “You don’t know? OKAY! We test all 16!” I imagine they would do the same to you. It learned many fun things. Like some nuts i thought i was allergic too…i will still allergic to but could eat with hardly noticing! (haha!) and nuts that i had never tried before are very dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. An allergist can get you this info as well.
You would probably need an epipen as well. If anything consider it more of tylenol for a bad headache then a life saving device.
I would also suggest a medi-alert bracelet if you do not have one already. Mainly because I was scolded by a paramedic for not having one for 15 minutes (despite my, i will not die-ness). They are the ones who would care about medical alert bracelets and they were scolding me (and if i have to wear one so do you :P ). It is also a nice remember to get me to play the asking game.

If your looking for what legumes are out there I would consult the internet or even a allergies related form (allergicliving.com is one i have visited before).
How are you with peas? Can you have them both alone and in the pod?
