A healthy diet is making me umm. a bit windy!Any ideas to lessen the effect of gas from fruit & veg & beans?
I am eating a great healthy diet – as advised! Plenty of fresh fruit and veg. Salad every dinner time with rice and tofu/chickpeas/lentils etc. I am definatly feeling better for it physically and my skin is thanking me for it but the only down side is that I have become really gassy!!!! I was wondering is there any way I can stop this embaressing issue?!!!
Its pretty bad especially at night – I guess this is when we are most relaxed… sorry this is an awful question!! But I really need to know what to do to lessen the effects of the beans and fibre or whatever it is that is giving me this new windy experience!!!
Please advise me as I dont want to be put off this healthy eating phase I just want to control the rather horrible effect!
Thanks

i have the same problem too ; ) here’s a recipe for a drink – take it before or during meals.
Give your body a few weeks to adjust and the gas should die down. Did for me at least. In the meantime, if medications are your thing, take some Beano (? not even sure what it is called).
Haha, I know the feeling.
Being, erm, windy, in itself is not a necessarily bad thing; it’s often just a sign that your body is digesting properly. However, telling people that at a dinner party is not going to make it any less embarassing.
Have you recently switched to this diet? Often, people who’ve eaten meat for ages experience the gas as their fiber intake goes up drastically. If you switched cold turkey, it’s advisable to take slow steps into the vegetarian world.
Other than that, you can avoid foods known to cause gas; broccoli, beans, bell peppers, and anything high fiber. Well, maybe not avoid, but eat smaller portions of.
Best of luck.
Hello!
I agree with Jen, give yourself a while for your body to adjust to this change of diet and you ‘ll be able to stop worrying about windiness!
I couldn’t tell you how many times I went to the toilet in my first few weeks as vegan.
